Police posed as the 15-year-old victim on the app, sending messages back and forth to Korts until his arrest. Investigators were able to intervene and set up a second meeting in the Town of York on Wednesday. The girl went with Kort in his vehicle, and upon their return, were discovered by her parents. Police say Korts drove from Webster to Livingston County to meet with her. "They initially provided us information which was not accurate, so it took us longer because they were slow in responding," Copeland said.A Webster man has been arrested after allegedly making inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old girl using the Whisper app.ĭeputies say 41-year-old Jason Korts contacted the girl using the app and met with her in person on August 16.
The crime happened back on April 22, but because the suspect had made the alleged posts anonymously, it took authorities until Thursday to arrest him.Īuthorities said officials at Whisper cooperated with the investigation, but there were some issues.
